This paper is an account of the presentation and discussion that took place at the conference and a summary of the state of affairs.
We shall briefly outline the innovation policies of Finland and the Netherlands in chapters 2 and 3, followed by an overview of the various policy options available in the field of industrial and innovation policy in chapter 4. The concluding chapter discusses the role of government in the innovation system.
